Terms of Use

Last updated: 28/08/2026

These Terms of Use apply to your use of the Nature’s Playbook website, resources, downloads, toolkit information, workshop information, Field Guide, and related services.

Nature’s Playbook is operated by Dr Emma Fromberg, trading as Nature’s Playbook.

For questions about these Terms, contact:

hello@naturesplaybook.org

By using the Nature’s Playbook website, downloading resources, purchasing access to the Field Guide, or engaging with Nature’s Playbook services, you agree to these Terms of Use.

1. About Nature’s Playbook

Nature’s Playbook is a research-based learning ecosystem for ecological design thinking for a circular economy.

It includes website content, a physical toolkit, workshops, free field observation resources, research information, and the AI-supported Field Guide.

Nature’s Playbook is designed to support learning, reflection, systems thinking, and idea generation. It does not provide formal business, legal, financial, strategic, technical, investment, or professional advice.

2. Website content and free resources

The Nature’s Playbook website provides information about the toolkit, workshops, Field Guide, research, ambassadors, and related resources.

Free resources, such as Ecological Patterns Bingo, are provided for learning and reflection. They may be used for personal learning, teaching, workshops, or discussion, provided they are not sold, misrepresented, or used in a way that suggests endorsement by Nature’s Playbook without permission.

You must not copy, resell, commercially exploit, or present Nature’s Playbook materials as your own.

3. The physical toolkit

The Nature’s Playbook toolkit is a physical set of research-based cards for ecological design thinking for a circular economy.

The toolkit is designed for individual reflection, facilitated workshops, teaching, and professional learning. It does not provide fixed answers, checklists, or ready-made solutions.

Where the toolkit is purchased through an external platform, such as the King’s College London e-store, the purchase, payment, delivery, and order processing may be subject to the external platform’s own terms, privacy notice, refund policy, and customer service processes.

Nature’s Playbook may provide product information, usage guidance, workshop information, and support, but payment and order handling may be managed by the relevant external store.

4. Toolkit delivery, customs, and import charges

Toolkit orders may be shipped from the UK.

For deliveries outside the UK, customs duties, import taxes, or handling fees may be charged by the destination country. These charges are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in the purchase price or shipping costs, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Delivery charges may vary by region. Current delivery costs may be shown at checkout or on the relevant purchase page.

5. Toolkit returns, damaged items, and refunds

If you purchase the toolkit through an external store, the refund and returns process may be governed by that store’s terms and conditions.

As a general position, unused toolkit items may be returned within 14 days of delivery, provided they are in their original packaging and condition. Before returning an item, you should contact the relevant support address for return authorisation.

Refunds for returned physical products may cover the product price only. Original shipping costs may be non-refundable, and return shipping costs may be the responsibility of the customer, unless otherwise required by law or stated by the relevant store.

If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, you should contact the relevant support address promptly and provide photo evidence of both the product and original packaging. Where damage or error is verified, a replacement may be arranged.

Nothing in these Terms limits any legal rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

6. Workshops and facilitation

Nature’s Playbook workshops are facilitated learning experiences that may include ecological design thinking, field observation, use of the toolkit, group dialogue, and applied reflection on circular economy challenges.

Workshop terms, fees, cancellation arrangements, delivery format, and responsibilities will normally be agreed separately for each workshop, organisation, or event.

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, workshop materials remain the intellectual property of Nature’s Playbook or their respective rights holders.

Facilitators are encouraged to engage with the tool through an official Nature’s Playbook facilitator workshop before committing to independent facilitation.

7. Who can use the Field Guide

The Field Guide is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

You must not purchase or use the Field Guide if you are under 18.

This age requirement is in place because the Field Guide includes an optional research participation element and involves the collection of learner data.

8. The Field Guide

The Field Guide is an AI-supported learning experience that helps you explore a circular economy challenge through ecological thinking, field observation, and guided reflection.

The Field Guide may include:

  • learner registration;

  • a structured course journey;

  • field observation activities;

  • uploaded photographs;

  • AI-supported Guide consultations;

  • saved progress;

  • downloadable Field Notes;

  • optional research participation.

The Field Guide is a learning and reflection tool. It is not a consultancy service and does not replace your own professional judgement, organisational decision-making, or independent advice.

9. AI-supported learning

The Field Guide uses artificial intelligence to support reflective learning conversations and generate parts of the learning experience.

AI outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, unsuitable for your specific context, or fail to identify risks, dependencies, or unintended consequences.

You are responsible for evaluating any ideas, prompts, questions, or outputs generated through the Field Guide before using them. You should not treat AI-generated content as formal advice or as a recommendation to take a particular action.

You should seek appropriate professional advice before making business, legal, financial, strategic, technical, operational, or organisational decisions.

10. No confidential or sensitive information

You should not enter confidential, commercially sensitive, legally sensitive, personally sensitive, or special category information into the Field Guide.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • trade secrets;

  • confidential strategy documents;

  • unpublished financial information;

  • personal data about other people;

  • health information;

  • legally privileged information;

  • sensitive internal business information;

  • information that your employer, client, or organisation would not want shared outside its systems.

You should describe your challenge using information that is already public, generalised, anonymised, or safe to disclose.

Although learner entries are treated as confidential, no digital system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Nature’s Playbook is not responsible for consequences arising from your decision to enter confidential or sensitive information into the platform.

11. Field Guide accounts and access

To use the Field Guide, you may need to register with your name, email address, and language preference.

You are responsible for keeping your access link, account, and password secure.

You must not:

  • share your access link or account with another person;

  • allow someone else to use your account;

  • attempt to access another learner’s account;

  • interfere with the security or operation of the platform;

  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or misuse the platform or its content.

If you believe your account has been accessed without permission, contact:

hello@naturesplaybook.org

12. What one Field Guide purchase includes

One purchase gives one learner access to complete the Field Guide once.

The Field Guide is designed around one learning journey: one circular economy challenge, one set of field observations, one sequence of Guide consultations, and one final set of Field Notes.

If you want to complete the Field Guide again with a new challenge, you may need to purchase a new access entry.

13. Field Guide price and payment

The standard price for the Field Guide is £15 per access, charged in GBP.

Promotional codes may be offered from time to time. For example, an early-access promotion code may reduce the price while that promotion is active.

Promotion codes may be changed, paused, or withdrawn at any time.

Payments for the Field Guide are processed through Stripe. Nature’s Playbook does not receive or store your full card details.

Stripe may generate receipts or PDF invoices after payment completion.

Nature’s Playbook is currently operated by Dr Emma Fromberg as an individual sole trader and is VAT exempt. Prices and payment information will reflect the current Stripe setup.

14. Field Guide access period and platform availability

Nature’s Playbook currently intends to support the Field Guide until at least September 2028.

Learner accounts, saved progress, uploaded photographs, AI Guide interactions, and Field Notes are currently intended to remain available until September 2028, unless you request deletion earlier or access is removed under these Terms.

Nature’s Playbook may need to update, maintain, change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the platform where necessary for technical, security, legal, financial, or operational reasons.

Where possible, reasonable notice will be given before major changes.

15. Field Guide refunds and cancellations

Refunds may be considered where:

  • you experience access problems;

  • there are technical issues that prevent you from using the Field Guide;

  • there has been a payment error;

  • you are dissatisfied with the course experience;

  • something has gone wrong with your access or purchase.

Refund requests should be sent to:

hello@naturesplaybook.org

Refunds are handled through Stripe.

Where a full refund is issued, access to the Field Guide may be removed. If automatic access removal is not available, this may be handled manually.

Nothing in these Terms limits any legal rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

16. Digital content and immediate access

The Field Guide is a digital learning experience. When you purchase access, you may receive access shortly after payment.

Because the Field Guide provides digital content and online services, cancellation rights may be affected once access begins, depending on applicable consumer law and the consent or acknowledgement requested during checkout.

Before purchase, you should read the product description, price, access terms, refund policy, Privacy Notice, Cookie Notice, and these Terms of Use.

17. Research participation

The Field Guide includes an optional research participation element towards the end of the course.

Research participation is optional and can be skipped.

You can complete the Field Guide without consenting for your reflections to be used in research.

Only the specific responses submitted through the research participation page are used for research. These responses are collected in anonymised form. Once submitted, they cannot be linked back to you and therefore cannot be withdrawn afterwards.

The research participation element has received ethical approval through King’s College London as part of a minimal risk assessment.

More information is provided in the Research Participation information page.

18. Privacy and data protection

Nature’s Playbook collects and uses personal information as described in the Privacy Notice.

This may include your name, email address, language preference, course progress, Field Guide responses, uploaded photographs, AI Guide interactions, Field Notes, payment status, and support communications.

You should read the Privacy Notice before using the website, signing up to the newsletter, purchasing the toolkit, registering for the Field Guide, or taking part in research.

For privacy questions or data requests, contact:

hello@naturesplaybook.org

19. Cookies

Nature’s Playbook uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, understand website use, manage preferences, support the Field Guide, and enable related services.

More information is provided in the Cookie Notice.

20. Newsletter and communications

If you register for or purchase the Field Guide, you may receive transactional emails related to your registration, payment, access, password recovery, course progress, or account status.

If you purchase the toolkit through an external store, you may receive order and delivery communications through that store.

You will only receive marketing emails or newsletters from Nature’s Playbook if you separately sign up to receive them.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

21. Intellectual property

All Nature’s Playbook materials, including website text, toolkit content, card content, course content, Field Guide structure, Guide concepts, prompts, images, downloads, Field Notes templates, research framing, and branding, are owned by or licensed to Nature’s Playbook unless otherwise stated.

You may use Nature’s Playbook materials for your own personal learning and reflection.

You must not copy, reproduce, distribute, resell, publish, adapt, train AI systems on, or commercially exploit Nature’s Playbook materials without written permission.

You may refer to ideas developed through your own use of Nature’s Playbook in your own work, provided you do not reproduce or misuse Nature’s Playbook materials or disclose confidential platform content.

22. User content

You retain responsibility for the content you enter into the Field Guide, including your challenge, reflections, uploaded photographs, AI Guide interactions, and any information you choose to provide.

By entering content into the Field Guide, you confirm that:

  • you have the right to provide that content;

  • it does not unlawfully disclose confidential information;

  • it does not infringe another person’s rights;

  • it does not contain harmful, unlawful, discriminatory, abusive, or misleading material;

  • it does not contain personal data about another person without an appropriate basis for sharing it.

You grant Nature’s Playbook and its technical providers the right to process your content as necessary to provide the Field Guide, save your progress, generate your Field Notes, provide support, maintain the platform, and comply with legal obligations.

23. Uploaded photographs

The Field Guide may invite you to upload photographs from a field observation activity.

You should only upload photographs that you have taken yourself or have the right to use.

You should avoid uploading photographs that include identifiable people, private property details, confidential locations, or sensitive information.

Uploaded photographs are used to support your learning journey and Field Notes.

24. Acceptable use

You must not use Nature’s Playbook, its website, downloads, toolkit, or Field Guide to:

  • break the law;

  • harm, threaten, harass, or abuse others;

  • upload malicious code or attempt to compromise the platform;

  • access or extract data you are not authorised to access;

  • interfere with the operation of the website or Field Guide;

  • use the platform to generate harmful, discriminatory, deceptive, or unlawful content;

  • use the platform as a substitute for professional advice;

  • use the platform for automated scraping, data harvesting, or model training;

  • resell, sublicense, or provide unauthorised access to the Field Guide;

  • misrepresent yourself as an authorised Nature’s Playbook facilitator, ambassador, partner, or representative without written permission.

Nature’s Playbook may suspend or remove access where these Terms are breached.

25. External links and third-party services

The Nature’s Playbook website may link to external websites or services, including Stripe, the King’s e-store, event platforms, research pages, or partner websites.

External websites and services have their own terms, privacy notices, refund policies, and cookie practices. Nature’s Playbook is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of external websites.

26. Availability and technical issues

Nature’s Playbook aims to keep the website and Field Guide available, but access may sometimes be interrupted because of maintenance, updates, technical problems, provider outages, security issues, or circumstances outside our control.

If you experience Field Guide access problems, contact:

hello@naturesplaybook.org

27. Limitation of liability

Nature’s Playbook provides learning tools and reflective prompts. You remain responsible for your own decisions, actions, professional judgement, and use of any ideas generated through Nature’s Playbook resources, workshops, toolkit activities, or the Field Guide.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nature’s Playbook is not responsible for:

  • business decisions made as a result of using Nature’s Playbook;

  • loss arising from reliance on AI-generated outputs;

  • consequences of entering confidential or sensitive information into the Field Guide;

  • indirect or consequential loss;

  • loss of profits, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, or reputation;

  • third-party service failures;

  • customs duties, import taxes, or handling fees charged by destination countries;

  • unauthorised access caused by your failure to protect your account or access link.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

28. Changes to Nature’s Playbook or these Terms

Nature’s Playbook may update the website, Field Guide, resources, prices, features, policies, and these Terms from time to time.

The latest version of these Terms will be published on the Nature’s Playbook website.

If material changes affect paid access to the Field Guide, reasonable steps will be taken to inform affected learners where appropriate.

29. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living outside England and Wales, you may also have mandatory consumer rights under the laws of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove rights that cannot legally be excluded.
